Can My Tranny Handle the HP??!!??
Next week I am getting my transmission rebuilt. I am getting a great deal including a new TC. So I am not too sure on what parts are going in it. I plan to also have a firm shifting shift kit also. Right now my car has around 270 hp, which I know the tranny can handle, but I was looking in JEG's and they have a Holley 144 Powercharger that on a stock engine can produce around 100 hp. This will bring me up to around 370 hp, will a freshly rebuilt tranny handle this, or do I have to make sure I get hi-performance rebuild parts.

You need to do all of the updates & improvements if you expect this trans to last (Corvette servo, .500 & .296 boost valves, Borg Warner Hi-Energy 2-4 band & 3-4 clutches, Trans-Go Performance Shift kit, Trans-Go steel rings in the front pump, etc.)

Straight from the GM textbook.
"700R4 transmissions are capable of handling 350 HP and 400 lbs-ft torque." I don't think a stock trans will handle this amount unless it's new, but if you rebuild it properly you can safely back-up 400 HP.
