man i just wanted to sqay what a difference this made. He went with richmond 4.10 gears and a B&M shift kit. Man what a difference it made. It turned his stock LG4 and turned it into a stock 5.0 killer. I just wanted to say this mod is incredable for all cars and i recomend it to n e one....

Hey man thats great! I changed the intake, carb and dist. on a friends stock LG4 and it made a real SOTP diference. I would reccommend that to your friend as well!

Not to burst your bubble, but I bet he isn't much faster overall. It may be "***** to the wall" off the line, but where he gains at the bottom, he looses from the top.
A little History: I have a TPI'd LG4. I was running low 15's w/ 2.73 gears, open rear. I swapped out the whole rearend, put in 3.73 gear and a posi. I could now light 'em up easily, scratch second gear like crazy, shaved .2 off my 60 ft, but overall, no gain in 1/4 mile, and no gain in MPH.
I don't think the LG4 cam profile, heads and exhaust can support the RPMs needed to make these gears work to there fullest extent. I put headers on the same car w/ 3" exhaust, and I gained .5 easily. So your buddy has more work to do to make those gears REALLY work, then it will be a stang stomper or whatever you called it. Just my $.02 from personal experience.

wow u guys sure dug this out of the archives
, well its been about 6 months or so of him having the 4.10s and he loves the gears, his top speed was limited over the 2.73s but he could pull harder up top than he could have before but his car would stop pulling around 110. Theres one problem though, when he had the gears installed his rear end wasnt alinged properly so they whined like a bitch until one day they started grinding and he heard a snap. Next thing ya know there is the DS on the ground and a huge puddle of rear end fluid under the car. Man what a pess, the car wont even move foward becouse he broke the pinion. As a fix he is going to the boneyard and hes gonna get the 3.42s out of a V6 thirdgen. Just swap from rear end to rear end.....ill let u know how it turns out, we should be doing the swap shortly.....
