t5 speedo gears info needed.... and it's not in the archives
i just bought an 84 t5. It has a purple drive gear and a red 18 tooth driven gear. I know the car was a z28 LG4, so i think the rear ratio was, 3.23. What i need to know is are these trans gears consistent with 3.23 rear gears?. Also what will the 3.42 gear equivalent be? Lastly what is the difficulty of the gear change. I looks pretty intense. thnx i hope to get my $325.00 tranny up to speed quickly. THE SHAGGY IROC

If you search this board you'll find it.
3.42/3.45 gears with a T5 is a purple 7 tooth gear (which you have) and a white 19 tooth driven gear.
For the instructions go to http://www.sethirdgen.org/vss.htm
Its for an automatic but its similar. Since you already have the correct drive gear, just remove the 18 tooth driven gear, and replace it with the 19 tooth gear, and put it back in.
