On a turbo 350 there's a little gasket that goes between the tranny and the filter (not the pan gasket). A few hours after the filter and fluid change I found the little gasket laying in the driveway. My question is how important is this little gasket? I'm sure it's there for a reason, but will it hurt anything if I just leave it out?

the reason it's there is to prevent the pump from sucking air. Let's put it this way...would you worry about it if this was the oil pump? same thing. I wouldn't risk running it dry. I'd take the hour to put it in. If you use an EXTREMELY clean container, you can just pour the fresh fluid back in. That will save you some money. Only cost is a little of your time.

The very reason I went to studs on the pan, and a drain screw.

Don't worry I broke the damn shifter arm off after bolting the pan up, changing the oil, and adding a shifter six month ago.
If that makes you feel better, then you'll love this. After rebuilding my 350 I got everything together -added the oil and notice the gears where whacked out for better words. It turned out that I had installed the damn shifter detent that goes in the throttle body upside down. ahhhh --That was seven years ago, and I've got more retentive since ! That's right not one book, but two with lots of pictures!

Aw poop. Guess that means I'll have to fix it. The good news is I installed a drainplug in the pan. Oh well, live and learn.

viciousZ just be carefull with that drain plug, I put one in my tranny and the damn thing has leaked ever since , Im going to do a oil change here in about a week and just weld the stupid thing in there so it wont leak, its only leaking around the main part that actually bolts the pan.
