Swapping 700R4's yourself? How hard is it?
Hey guys,
I just gave up on trying to fix my existing 700R4. Tommorrow I mihgt get my hands on a functional one. 1) Are these trannys perfectly interchangeable: mine - 700R4 from 86 TA 305 TPI, other one -- 700R4 from 86 TA 305 carb? My concern is that the shift points for the carbed one are different, is that the case?
2) Now if I want to swap these two trannies, how hard will it be to do at home, and do I need any special tools? How much will it be to have it done in a shop?
3) What should I do to the tranny while its out to prolong its life and possible improve shifts? (I am going to have the old tranny to practice on)
Sorry for all the questions, but I wold really appreciate it if one of the experts could answer some of these for me. Thanks.
