which t5 tranny?

i want to switch my 700r4 tranny with a manual. i'd really like to drop a t56 6 speed in it, but i'm not sure if i'll be able to find one around here for a reasonable price. so i'm probably just gonna go with a 5 speed. would it make a difference if i got a t5 from an iroc/z28 or a 4th gen v6 camaro?

the v6 one might not work but, the t-5 from any v8 one from a 3rd gen will work fine but the 88 and up are the best ones know as world class T-5s

I am pretty sure buying one from a 4th gen 6 pop would be a mistake. They are weaker and gm changed something that makes them have incomnpatibility issues.

A 6-cylinder one will not work in the clutch disk for a V8. The shafts are different diameters and different splines. Also, gear ratios are different; you don't want the 6-cylinder ratios.

Get the best one you can find, you'll be alot happier. I'd suggest one from a 88-92 Z28 or TPI T/A.
