mustangs and imports, oh my

i have a '92 Z28 and it is a 5.0 auto. i am tired of getting beaten by everything. its not that i am real slow, i just cant make up for how much they beat me off the line. the gm dealership tols me i have 273's in my rear end and the only other they offer for my case are 307's. is there someone who makes aftermarket stuff or a swap i can do? what ratio should i go to that will get me moving better and still be decent on the highway?

Your best bet is to get an SLP take-off torsen posi from www.slponline.com and then buy some used 4th gen 3.23 or 3.42 gears and have them installed. You'll also need to change your speedo gears in your trans. A gear change will really help take a couple tenths of your 1/4 and 0-60 MPH times.

I went to 3.42's in my one wheel peal rear and last night I changed to 3.73 with an auburn posi and all I can say is giddy-the-****-up. The car hauls good!!! Gears and a 2000RPM stall felt like someone put a new motor in my car. They were my 2 most noticeable power mods.
