What thread size are the T5 shifters?

I want to order a billet shift **** from Mallory but I don't know what size thread it is. Anybody know off hand or do I have to whip out the old assorted nut drawer?

Thanks Tom. You wouldn't happen to know the thread size, or at least if it's the same as 4th gens would you? I would assume the 4th gen T5s would have the same thread size, but with GM you never know.

I drilled and tapped an 8 ball years ago for my firebird, and it currently resides in my Sport Coupe, but I can't get the **** off any more to look at the threads. It's on there so tight I'm afraid that I'll ruin the threads trying to get it off.

They're 14mm "standard" thread, whatever that pitch is. I think it's 1.5.

I took a bolt that size, drilled it out and tapped it to 3/8" fine, cut off about ½" of it, and Loctited it to my Hurst Comp Plus T-5 shifter because I hated the Hurst **** so bad... the stock leather one looks so much better than that cheesy thing Hurst supplies.

Actually, it is the same for both M16x1.50. I just check with both my shifters.

When I put a Hurst T-Handle on my Hurst Shifter, it was 7/16"-20. The stock **** fit so its the same?

Kev, some aftermarket shifters use dual thread patterns ( whoops), vary depending on manufacturer. But as you know, I have the OEM manual stuff from a '91 Z28 (Christina's car), well I took off the shift ****. Went over to my 1994 and swapped *****, no problem. I also have various taps, dies and thread "finders", matched up the pitch and measured the diameter = M16x1.50 for both.

EDIT: That's better.

I know I'm bringing up a really really old topic here, but I'm a bit confused...is the diameter 14 mm or 16 mm? Thank you.
