pilot bearing question

What happens if you put the pilot bearing otherway around? I checked that I should slide it with the lip looking to the transmission side, but I did it as the lip looks to engine side... It work fine though... except my pedal stays a little bit higher than the brake pedal (1.5 cm) I guess it has noting to do with the pilot bearing but I am curious about the consequences... shorty, Is it OK to put the pilot bearing with the lip stays towards the engine?

Thank you..
