Trans Mount Question
I have a 700-R4 trans and I was wondering if you remove the brace under the transmission do I need anything under it to hold it up like a jack or jackstand? Also this may sound dumb but what in the world is your t.v. cable? I've been reading tons of people talking about it and I'd like to know what it is. Thanks.

You definitely have to put something under the tranny if you are taking out the cross member. That is the only thing that holds the tranny and motor up in the back. Just put a jack under it and zip out the 4 crossmember bolts.
SIDE NOTE: If you are going to let the tranny down at all take the cap off the distributor because as you let it come down it will hit the firewall and break.

TV stands for "Throttle Valve", and the cable for it runs from the throttle to the transmission. It does more than the old "kick-down" cable of yesteryear, so its proper adjustment is a little more critical. Basically, it varies the pressure within the transmission with varying throttle position, making the shifts softer or firmer, and earlier or later for less or more throttle opening, respectively.
If you are changing your transmission mount, put a 2x4 under the transmission pan and between the jack to hold it all up while you have the crossmember off. The board keeps the jack from deforming the pan, and keeps the jack far enough forward to be out of your way for the mount change.
