How do I change the speedo drive gear?
When I swapped transmissions, I swapped the driven gear but not the drive gear into the new trans. I can't get the driven gear off of the output shaft. I depressed the little locking tab, but I can't move it or the gear. How do I get it off?
I apologize if this is somewhere in the archives. I did a search and didn't come up with the info I need.
Oh yeah, one more stupid question (Can you tell I'm not a tranny guy?). Will having the speedo off by 20% or so have a major impact on the drivability and operation of the trans? Before I pull this new trans back out I want to swap the drive gear and see if it has an effect on drivability, but I'm really not expecting it to.
Anyway, thanks for the help.

I used an open-end wrench a littler larger than the diameter of the output shaft and tapped it with a deadblow to slide the gear off slowly.
i take them off with a bearing seperator in a press, but i doubt if you have your's apart that far. you can put them on by leaving the rear seal out and driving them on with a long piece of round stock for a punch.
