What stall for 305 with Turbo 350

I am putting a trubo 350 in my 84 Camaro since the 700r4 lost 3rd and 4th gears. The rearend is 3:73. The 305 is carburated with stock cam. What stall speed and size would work best for this car. It is not a daily driver, just for fun and will more than likely upgrade cam at some point, but just need to get it moving again right now. Thanks.

My L69 uses a stall of 2000-2200. I'm not certain it's original but I think so.
This is meant for overdrive & lockup. Since you're ditching those options you should do some calculations. You'll usually want your cruise rpm's to be at least as high as the stall speed to avoid excessive heat generation. I'm sure you'll find some gear & tire calculators out there.

Ok, thanks. I will check those out. I think that i was planning on maybe 2400-2500. I just wanted to make sure that would not be too high.

Re: What stall for 305 with Turbo 350

Stall speed required depends on the camshaft. Transmission, gearing, tire size must also complement the camshaft's powerband for the best performance.

Since you stated it has a stock cam, I wouldn't go above 2200 stall speed.

Re: What stall for 305 with Turbo 350

Thanks for the replies. I plan on using a 2200 stall. I did find out that I have a Th350C transmisson. So I have an additional question. Is there a non-lockup converter that I can use with the th350C and just not connect the wiring to the transmission for the lockup and just use it as a non-lockup?
