damn bellhousing

damn bellhousing

GOD DA@NIT! today just hasnt been the best day.... i just cracked my bellhousing tring to "finagle" the tranny to mount up....

has anybody tried to use JB WELD on a t-5 bellhousing? will it hold? i just got off the phone with a junk yeard that said their are no more t-5 bellhousings in wisconsin.

if anyone can help, i would be greatful....

Thats crap. I myself have a few (and am not getting rid of them) and know where there are at LEAST 3 more in boneyards. (but I aint tellin, might need em)

they break that easy? what other vehicles had the exact bellhousing in them?

man, i just called the dealer and asked how much for a new one... i cant believe those bloodsuckers.... $302+tax, they must be kidding me...

I don't believe I'd waste my time JB Welding something that has to withstand engine torque. (depending on the engine, maybe).

The only kind of car that uses the same bell housing as a F car, is another F car... no interchange with anything else... good luck. I'm keeping all the ones I have, sorry.

wow, sounds like these bellhousings are worth their weight in gold.... they must be ewasier to break than i thaught....

oh well.... if i gotta pay $100 for one, i guess i aint got a choice <shrug> it's worth it

I don't think that they were used in any cars besides thirdgens. I could be wrong, but that's what I think. As far as I know, our cars are kind of unique in that the manual trans was tilted at an angle instead of installed straight. I've got a shattered one at home, too. Given enough time, you can find one. It's tough, but they are out there. Took me about a month to find one when I needed it ($45), and it was about an hour and a half away.

JEEZ, for that kind of money you might as well go ahead and buy a new lakewood or mcleod bellhousing... thats my vote...

how much is an aftermarket bellhousing? are their any advantages to having one?
