problems with my LSD
i have an iroc limited slip rear end in my car and i have problems with it not locking up around corners...when i hammer it around a left turn most times it kicks all the power to the left wheel..i can get a slide once in a while...and when i hammer it around a right turn there is absolutely no chance for a slide...but has no problem leaving to blackies when power braking it...whats going on? can i rebuild it?

Re: problems with my LSD
The clutches in the diff. are worn out. It is rebuildable if you can find parts for it. Mine was the same way so I replaced it with a eaton diff. and changed the gears.
Re: problems with my LSD
You need to find out which rear end you have first. If you have the Borg Warner 9 bolt then you can repairn the differential that is in it.
If you have the GM 10 bolt then you will have the Auburn differential, which is junk. Any used differetnial that you find for this rear end is going to be another Auburn, which isn't worth the shipping cost. The best thing to do is get a new Eaton Posi. It is rebuildable and much better than the Auburn. You will also need to know what the gear ratio is so that you get the right series differential to match the gears.

If you are going to change gears you can get a 2 or 3 series carrier and just get gears to match. Also you can probably get a complete 4th gen rear axle for the same price as just a new diff. 3.23's, 3.42's and 3.73's are all good gears for a daily driver. With tpi 3.42's are what I would recommend.
