Upshift mod on a 100K trans

With my 3:73 gears the 1/3 throttle downshift is annoying. I bought the B&M valve, but have yet to install it. I am worried that if i drain the fluid and install the valve, the dam trans will puke. It is best to leave it alone with this many miles? The trans shifts well i have no problems except for me wanting to put this valve in.

The valve itself shouldn't hurt anything; are you worried about changing the fluid? Some guys say on a trans that's been ignored, it's better to run with the old fluid, because the old stuff has pieces of clutch floating around in it. I don't know if that's true or not...?

Thats what i have heard. I was going to change the fluid when i got the car, but decided against it when i heard about the fluid issue. I have installed a trans cooler and i know that the previous owner took very good car of the car, but i am still a little worried... a new trans is not possible at this time.

That goes back to the days of Type F oil where the oil would turn to varnish. New oil is very high in detergent and would wsh off any gunk and..... next thing you know everything is hanging up and the tranny fails.

i was told that you shouldnt change the tranny oil after 70-75000 miles on it b/c of that point of the clutches .

If the oil is fairly clean and trans is working OK then it should be OK. Just remember to take the old seal out of the case before you put the new one in.
