Im sure that Ill get chewed out for asking this, as it has probably been on here before, but oh well Ill try anyways. I swapped a 2.8 multiport out of my 89 for a 350 with a rebuilt th350 trans. I have everything swapped (crossmember, torque arm, etc.) but dont really know about my shift cable. do i need a different cable or are my issues elsewhere? when I try to shift from drive to park, its not right-it wont extend far enough to engage park, and just doesnt feel right shifting to other gears-the cable also looks too long?

sounds to me like the plates in the shifter its self.
you using the stock shifter?

time to buy a shifter for a th350
your stock shifter wasn't meant to work with a th350. so you wont be able to adjust it to hit all the gears properly

 

yeah, I figured I might have issues with the stocker, I just dont have a lot of cash-I do want a hammer shifter bad though
