what else are you looking for?

Yes, you can swap, but you'll need another proportioning valve and e-brake cables.

The nine-bolt is a bit stronger.

You can't swap the disc onto your rear without flange modification or conversion brackets.

For more info on 10-bolts and rear swaps, check the following FAQ:

Are the calipers in working order? Does the limited slip function as it should?
Any seals leaking? Are you getting the proportioning valve and e-brake cables?

Re: what kind of set up is this?

Posi is Eaton's trade name for their limited slip differential. Posi is used as a generic name for all LSDs. Yes, they are the same.

The Borg Warner LSD is a cone type. When it wears out it will act like a standard differential instead of a LSD (posi). It can be reconditioned, but this requires removing it from the rear end and doing some machine work to fix it.

Re: what kind of set up is this?

Hold one axles and try to turn the other. If it turns easily then plan on a rebuild. If it doesn't turn easily then it will be all right for a while. Just don't do a lot of burnouts with it while holding the brake. This can cause excess wear on the cones and case.

Re: what kind of set up is this?

Looks just like the B-W LSD that was in my 3.27 9 bolt.

Re: what kind of set up is this?

the tags are stamped 3.27. I did the Physical inspection and it was pretty hard to hold one axle and see if the other one spin but it did spin but it was hard. Should I rebuild or buy new gears before installing while the rear end is in the garage? what are my options here.Thanx

Re: what kind of set up is this?

About the only way to know what condition it is in is to disassemble it and inspect it. You can check the cones to see how far they are from bottoming out in the holes. Getting it back together is a little more difficult than most LSDs. Be sure to mark the case halves so that you get them back together in the same way that they came apart. You must use both axles to line up the splines in the axle gears and cones. If not then you won't be able to get the axles back in when you get the rear end back together.

I think I'd run it and see how it does.

Re: what kind of set up is this?

already ill do that i will disassemble and check it out i think im going to install the rear end see how it does also it is a bit rusty could i sand and repaint? if it does need a rebuild do i have to take the whole rear end out again? the only reason im doing this swap is because i dislike the look of the drums and the one wheel burnout although i tend not to do those to often but i like the idea of 2 wheels burning out thanx a mil big gear head.

Re: what kind of set up is this?

You can remove the differential without removing the rear end. You will have to remove the brakes and axles to get it out.

If you change to discs, you can use your master, but you'll need to swap in a proportioning valve. An 88 disc valve would be fine.
