what part broke the cable itself or the part on the trans tailsaft? I had the same thing happen the me on the tailshaft.. the housing was plastic and i overtightend it.. you can just get the new speedo housing that goes in the tailshaft at a dealer take your old one out and show them what you need, this always helps the confusion part of it, they only cost about 10 to 20 dollars... New housings are aluminum too, so that's not likely to happen again.

rock and roll i thought id be searching for a new tailshaft. one more thing though, do i need to totally remove the tailshaft or am i gonna get off easy by just being able to pull that speedo housing off alone and not droping the drive shaft and messing with that traction bar deal that runs from the tailshaft to the pumpkin?

thanks

All you should need is a 10mm wrench and pliers.

The little thing that the cable goes to is available at the dealer. New ones are steel instead of the chinesium the OE ones are. Of course they probably cost more than used ones... but the difference in quality will astonish you.
