Will gear out of a 96 fit my 92?

Anyone know if the 3.42 gears and auburn differential out of a 96 camaro will fit into my 92 with a 305 and 2.73s?? I have a chance to get them cheap, but need to know if they'll work and need to know in the next few days, so please respond soon... thanks

will i need to use any kind of a spacer or anything, or will they fit in my stock rear-end. If i'm right, it's a 7.5" 10 bolt, whick is a 3 series i believe. Is a 96 a 4 series, and if it is, would that make a big difference? Will somebody please fill me in a little more.

Nothing else to fill in.... ede said it all. They go right in.

You'd need a spacer if you had a 2-series carrier (from a 2.73 or 3.08-geared rear end) and regular 3-series gears such as those stock 3.42s. However, since you have the 3-series carrier too, it all will fit in your 92 housing the same as it fits in the 96 housing.

Take the differential and gears to an experienced rear end technician. It requires special tools and experience and cannot be done by yourself.
