T5 Shifter gets hot after driving around town

This has been an ongoing event ever since i changed the clutch. The clutch itself is still good, the throwout bearing is the right size, and the transmission is full of fluid. I can't figure out why but the longer i drive, the hotter the shifter gets. Heat also seems to radiate out of the transmission area. What gives?

Sounds like maybe it's connected to a big piece of metal located in the tunnel with the exhaust system...

Totally normal. They always do that, they have no other options.

Yes the converter attaches to the rear of the transmission So just get used to the heat? This didn't seem to happen before April, and it's been going on ever since.
