my LS1 aluminum driveshaft doesnt fit!! help pics

i bought a ls1 aluminum driveshaft off ebay. he said it was from a 2001 camaro. i bought new u joints and they didnt fit. two different stores gave me ujoints that where around quarter inch wider than what this shaft had already. so i got the front matched up with something else smaller. now the rear u joint is too skinny to bolt to the borg warner 9 bolt. its the original u joint. the steel shaft i took off had the wide style ujoint on it. whats going on???

for now i think i can put two cups from the wide new ujoint on the original used u joint to make it wider to bolt to the diff. i dont think it will work because its a loose fit. can anyone help me out?

By the diameter i would guess thats a 1LE third gen aluminum driveshaft. And your Ujoint is incorrect for the rear. Bring your old driveshaft to the shop and get an new u joint the same as the old one poped in the aluminum shaft and you should be good to go.

If the shaft is the so-called 1LE, it'll have a metal tag at the pinion end with a GM part number: 10085375. As an FYI. I once sold 60+ of these shafts. I was surprised to find that the rear U wouln't fit some earlier model cars, to include my 85. I used and recommended CarQuest part # 3-3130.

im in toronto canada. i dont think we have carquest up here. would a napa store know that part number? i will look for a part number on the shaft. problem is if i get a wider u joint then it will be too wide for the aluminum side and you wont be able to use the snap rings anymore.
