Converter recommendations??
i'm running a custom bullet racing cam in a built 355 that specs out at 234/242@.050, .573in/.573ex lift on a 110lsa. I'm using an edge 9.5" 3000 stall with 3.73 gears and its a little lazy off the line on motor....i'm really thinking right around a 3600 stall would put a smile on my face, i have one free re-stall from edge so throw out some opinions as i'd like to see at least some 1.7x 60fts on motor!
Re: Converter recommendations??
If you drive moderately aggressive, or aggressive, then a 3,400 - 3,600 stall will work work. If you drive conservative to moderate, than you will most likely not like that high of a stall.

Re: Converter recommendations??
car is a street/strip car thats a lot more biased towards the strip, nowhere near a daily driver. I know a lot of guys around here that do a LOT of street driving with stalls even up to 4k rpms and told me they have no discomforts whatsover....just remember to run a properly sized aux. trans cooler they say.

I'm running the Yank SS3600 with the lock up feature. I also have 3.70:1 gears. I have no problem with it on the street. Drives just fine.

Re: Converter recommendations??
Stall speed depends on camshaft profile. Everything else such as gearing, tire size etc needs to match the engine's powerband for best performance.
What's the camshaft's advertised duration (total, not the @.050)
What's the operating range of the camshaft.
Is this for street/strip or all out race?
Racing camshafts don't do very well on the street because you're usually always driving around below the operating range of the cam and well under the recommended stall speed.

advertised duration is 289/297 with an operating range of 2800-6700, its a street/strip car geared more towards strip....i took it on a 3hr cruise last week with my local thirdgen club and it was tooling around just fine with stock 305s and 350s....didn't even get hot!!

Re: Converter recommendations??
For a camshaft with that advertised duration, a converter stall speed in the 3300-3800 range would work best. I wouldn't go below 3300 and if it's used as full race, a converter closer to 3800 stall should be used.
That will allow the engine to stay in it's powerband where it can make it's best power.
Converter rated stall speed is an estimate. Stall speed depends on how much power is put into the converter. A converter that stall at 3500 behind one engine may only stall at 3300 behind another. The only way to know a converter's true stall speed is with a transbrake.

Re: Converter recommendations??
it will flash to about 3200 of the line....so based on what you said stephen, i'm thinking re-stalling it to 3600 and it should be right in the sweet spot. I called Andre at edgeracing and he said its a 3 day turn time on that!!! I'm gonna send you a pm Stephen as i have some questions and over the years i've come to value your opinions and advice in the drag racing arena.
