700r4 front pump?

So I blew something in my trans today. Paid almost 200 bones for a tow. I dont know much about trannys but I am at the point where I want to learn and rebuild it myself. I had it rebuilt about 2 years ago but wonder if I got ripped off by the trans shop. I have put maybe 5000-6000 miles on it and i dont beat on it. Its a 700r4 with a shift kit and a 2500 stall BTW. Here is the weird part though. The car still moves. I can put it in drive and it wont move at all but once i give it some gas, it will slowly move. I only drove it enough to get it into a parking lot as I didnt want to cause more damage. I can get it up to about 10 MPH at about 4000 RPM but it obviously wont shift or go any faster. I have a feeling that I somehow jakced up the front pump but have no idea how. All I did was floor it (something i do fairly regularly) and it never shifted into second. I took off the pan and there was some chunk of rubber in there about the diamater of a nickel. It looked like a cut off piece of hose. Anyone have any ideas?
