hard shifting under power with a T-5, I need some advise >
I have a T-5 in my car with a 355 ci. engine putting out a good amount of power, don't really know an exact number though. I recently had 3:70 gears put in my car (was 2:77) , now the day after I have the gears put in, the car is extremely hard to shift while I am under power. Driving around town at normal rpm's , it acts as if nothing is wrong, but if I try to drive it hard, the trouble shows. I took one T-5 out and put another in, same problem, so it is not the transmission, it has to be a clutch problem ? How do I go about finding the problem? I have thought that the fork may be slightly bent, maybe the hydraulic set-up is going bad ??? I don't know where to begin. I went to the track and tried to slam the shifter, but it has a ton of pressure and can't even be forced to shift, it acts as if the clutch is not releasing. I would rev it to 6800, try to shift, but have to let the rpm's back down to around 3000 before it would change gears (still ran 13.4 @ 105 8^) I am happy with that). I have a Centerforce dual friction clutch in there, but never had any troubles until lately. I don't see how a rear gear change could affect shifting, but that is when the trouble began... What are your suggestions? I want to get this fixed soon, but don't really know where to start. I have the Centerforce throwout bearing that they say to use and have had no troubles in the past, that leads me to believe something has been bent, or somehow air got into the hydraulic system? Too many variables to try and guess, hopefully someone can point me in the right direction.. Thank you for any help you may have !!!

Unfortunately, I don't have the answer... just a similar problem. I dropped in a new OEM clutch/plate/TO-Bearing yesterday. Task complete, but the clutch will NOT disengage the drivetrain, in other words, its not "self-adjusting."
And there are no adjustments on the slave cylinder, or bleeder lines...
I'd be interested in hearing any replies you may receive.
thanks,
Dan

I found a possible problem with my car yesterday, there is fluid coming from the resivoir and running all over the brake booster area. I will be putting a new hydraulic portion of the clutch in, hopefully this week. Maybe that is the problem, but now, what caused it ????

If it is the stock T-5 that camaro come with it will died behind a 355 if it is not built to handle you might end up replacing parts ona monthly basis if you plan on driving it hard. just my .00002 you might be good to swap a t-56 if you can get one cheap, would save you money in the long run if you keep blowing up T-5's or having trouble with it.
