Switching auto to T56l, do I need to change my hypertech chip??

Switching auto to T56l, do I need to change my hypertech chip??
Ok I completely didnt even realize this but Im gettin T56 swap done soon and I didn't even think about computer chips and I was browsing through a site with the chips and noticed theres different part #'s and listings for auto and manaual cars, do i need a new chip??

Well, the automatic chips are different in that they lock up the trans in certain situations. I believe the manual computer also adjusts the idle for inbetween shifts. I did the T56 swap and used my same computer for a while. I got a SES light every once in a while, but it was definitely runable. As far as getting a new chip, I owuld just try out what you've got now and see how it works. Good luck! You'll love the T56!!!

Ah great, as long as it should work with little sideeffects then I can live with it, 150-250$ can be spent elsewhere! thanks

yeah, they are like 180$ on thunder racing, but i never bought mine it came with my car and i need it or i have to get a custom one because i have a 160* thermostat

Keep your current chip. Its not like Hypertech or anyone else even offers a generic chip for a 350 TPI with a 6-speed.
