10 bolt axle lengths??

Ok guys ive been trying to figure out an issue with my brake rotor hitting the caliper. This all started after i switched out axle shafts from another 10 bolt into the one that is in my 95 formula. The question is does anyone know the diff in lenght between a 3rdgen 10 bolt and 4thgen 10 bolt axle shaft?

Re: 10 bolt axle lengths??

Third gen axles are both 30-3/8" long
93-96 fourth gen axles are both 32-1/8" long
98-02 fourth gen axles are both 32" long

I have no idea on 1997 axles.

There are no other 7-1/2" diffs with axles those lengths.

Re: 10 bolt axle lengths??

ok cool thanks man. So do you think having axle shafts from a 98-02 rear in my 95 rear can cause the brake rotor rub on the caliper? I know the C-Clip was a **** to put in.

thanks

Re: 10 bolt axle lengths??

Considering they're 1/8" shorter, it's amazing you were able to even get the C-clips in and that they haven't broken the ends of the axle off yet.

The axles need to be pushed in all the way, clips installed then pulled back out so the center pin can be installed. After you got the clips in, the axles probably don't move in or out so they're probably in the housing too far and the caliper now won't fit over the rotor.

You need the proper axles for that housing.

Re: 10 bolt axle lengths??

I haven't driven the car at all thats probably why the ends havent snapped off yet. I can't believe they went in either i though there was something wrong when i could barely get the clips on. Thanks again for all the help im going to go and get some new axles tomorrow for it. This has been driving me nuts for the last month or so.

Thanks
Shawn
