When I bought my 87 Formula, a Brand new 700R4 Trans was installed only 6k earlier. I did not know this until I decided to rebuild it.
I went to the Trans place here in flint and asked for the BEST 700R4 Trans Shift kit available. They gave me the "Mr Shift" Gil Younger SysKoKal NoYoYo Shift kit by TransGo. I read the instructions, did the work, drilled the holes in the Valve-body changed all the springs yada yada yada...
Just HOW good is the kit I have intalled, Is the Trans able to withstand more HP, etc. If so, what kind of HP can I put into my engine before I should become concerned about breakage.

That is the best (and only) Shift Kit available for passeneger and light truck use. It fixes the primary reasons why the 700 fails in the first place. I have used it for years even on HiPo applications before the TransGo Reprogramming Kit became available. The Reprogramming kit has increased torque capacity and controls over the TransGo Shift Kit and can be installed 'over' the Shift Kit as it contains many of the same components and is rated by TransGo to handle 600 HP.
