BLOWN TRANS?????? HELP

the other day after school i was on my way home when i realized i had no power but my revs were up so i stoped the car shifts in to 1st and 2nd no prob reverse and the 1 and 2 gears work fine but when it shifts to 3rd no power only revs is my trans gone oh also i noticed the tach is very jerky all of a sudden and is not on key with my engine revs?? it was kinda weird cuz i had no warning signs is this norm how much to rebuild if so what should i consider ive heard about awapping 4 an 700 r4 is this good or what other things might i consider thank u 4 your help

mine did the same thing 2 weeks ago... i just got mine rebuilt... ur lookin at between $600-$1200 possibly...

Speed, what tranny do you have? You talked about swapping for a TH700R4, why I'm asking.

i have the stock tranny 4 an 83 transam i think its the turbo 350

No 350 in that year. Is it an O/D? If yes than it is a 700. I think there may have been 200's(3-speed) in '82 but I'm not sure about '83. Anyways, they like to toast the Directs (3rd) too!

I CHECKED THE TECNICAL DATA ON THIS PAGE AND 4 MY TRANS IT SAYS M5,A4 IF THAT HELPS ANY I SERIOUSLY THOUGHT IT HAD THE TURBO 350 NOW IM COURIOUS TO WHAT I REALLY HAVE AND YES IT HAS THE DRIVE AND OVERDRIVE GEARS ALSO THE 1 AND 2

Th350 has no Overdrive. If it's stock you have to have a 700r4.

350 with stealth intake, holley carb, 470 lift cam. 700r4 with .5 boost valve, vette servo, tci lock-up kit, B&M megashifter. Richmond 3.73 gears, powertrax locker, timkin bearings, synthetic lube. Custom 3 inch single into 2 2.5 pipes. 1 1/2 drop springs, 1 5/16 solid front sway bar, 1 inch rear bar, custom subframe connectors, custom LCA relocation brackets. Kobel ground FX, currant red metallic paint. Lots of other stuff...
