Stuck 5th and "double-clutching" into 4th?

Well there are the symptoms. When I go into 4th, i have to shift to neutral, then back to 3rd, then let the rpms drop to shift into 4th. ALso, occasionally 5th gets stuck in gear. Reverse is also a bitch to, I shift into 4th (well actually into 3rd, then 4th) then into reverse. I am hoping its the tranny fluid, or actually the lack thereof :P

Any ideas if this doesnt help matters? Thanks a lot in advance!

Sounds like your synchros are screwed. You might also have a bent shift fork. GET IT CHECKED AND REBUILT.

If the car is grinding heavily when you try to put the trans in reverse, either the clutch isnt fully releasing or you pilot bushing is shot. More than likely, the clutch isnt fully releasing. HAVE YOUR CLUTCH MASTER CYLINDER AND SLAVE CYLINDER CHECKED FOR LEAKS AND HAVE IT BLED.

Hope this helps.
