Clutch master/slave cylinder question
The end of my master cylinder is worn. I would like to go to the flexible line like the 4th gen setup has. Is the 4th gen setup a direct replacement. Is this a good way to go or should I go with an aftermarket setup?
Thanks

Re: Clutch master/slave cylinder question
its a direct bolt in, however the line is longer on the 4th gen unit, and the pedal will engage a bit higher
you need a 93-97 setup
Its a good setup, a good upgrade to that would be if you can find an aluminum slave

Re: Clutch master/slave cylinder question
i had the same problem with my system
the plastic line burned.
so i just replaced everthing !
why spend the 200 bucks on plastic.
i just bought a aftermarket clutch master cylinder at advance.
i went to rockauto.com to get my alumunim slave cylinder
the part number was wag sc126869
i brought the line and the fittings from a great guy here on the site.
his sn is
apache3132
the whole kit was 65 bucks shipped to your door
it well worth the money

Re: Clutch master/slave cylinder question
It's true it engages higher, but the problem is with that, the overall travel is too long and it causes the fork to travel beyond its ability. Thus you will bend the release bearing. So you need to shorten the rod on the master. It's easy but a task. Cut 1/2" in length and thread both ends 3/8-24 then buy a 5/16 coupling and drill it out. Then thread it 3/8-24. Now its adjustable and the correct travel is near where the brake and clutch pedal are the same height.
