I have two p/n's for the Alum Dr shaft
10035375 & 12564003. Which one will be the best fit for 1987 with the 700R4 and 9-bolt rear?? Anyone installed one lately?

The 1LE alum drive shaft is part # 10085375 (diameter is, I believe 2 3/4"). The LS1 alum drive shaft is part # 12564003 (diameter is, I believe 3"). In order to use the 1LE shaft on pre-88 cars (I assume the same would be true with the LS1), you'll require a different sized rear U-joint (CarQuest 3-3130 is a fit).

Biochem,
It's my understanding that the 1LE shaft will fit cars through 1997, so I'm unsure whether the 98 LS1 shaft will fit your thirdgen ride (the thirdgen shaft measures 41 1/2" from U joint center to U joint center, if that's a help). Sorry, I have no personal experience.
