Tranny question...
I know of a v6 5 speed for sale local for cheap, my question is, will i be able to swap that trans into my auto car, and im not asking "can a 5 speed b put into a auto car" i know u can do that, i need to know that if i buy this car i can make my car into a 5 speed, so v6 man to v8 auto, will it fit and work, simple swap of bell houseing? dont wanna buy a parts car for parts that wont work, plus go though all the work only to start cursing WAY more than doing a swap i know can be done.

Re: Tranny question...
the v8 transmission are bigger, and more bolts on the housing, than the v6 even if there both 700r, as far as the 5 speed to an auto. I have no idea

Re: Tranny question...
You would need to buy a V8 F-body bell housing and a special clutch set-up with a 10.4in disk with a 10 spline shaft. I don't know if the V6 clutch hydraulics will work on a V8 though.

Re: Tranny question...

Re: Tranny question...
ok, the v8 tranny is bigger than a v6( built wise) you probily could swap them but doubt it will hold up to all the power the v8 has

Re: Tranny question...
Also depending on the year of your car and the donor car something may have to be done with the speedometer.

Re: Tranny question...
I don't know about the strength difference between a V6 and V8 tranny. I would assume a WC is a WC and an NWC is an NWC, when I did my swap I had a few guys try to sell me V6 transes with all the parts to put them behind a V8. My friend is into Fox Body Mustangs and he actually looked for the 4cyl trans for his cars because he figured they weren't beat on as much.
You would still probably be better off just buying a V8 trans swap set up, so you don't have to find a bell housing or a special clutch. I posted up in the WTB section and got about 10 offers in 3 days before I picked up a complete WC setup for 500.
