I need help identifying a piece and finishing the install.
I’ve got one check ball that’s way bigger then the rest, it’s big enough that when I dropped it in the auxiliary valve body check ball capsule it got lodged about half way in. Anyone know where this goes (do I still need it, as far as I can tell, I’ve got one other extra check ball)?
There is a passage in the back of the case, above the auxiliary valve body, in between the 2 passages that got the plugs with the .063” holes in them (the one closer to the passenger side). In the instructions it says that there may be a check ball there to soften the engagement of reverse if you have a specific passage. The video says that you should make sure that it’s there (hold it in with Vaseline) if you have an auxiliary valve body. What I see when I look in the hole is a larger hole, too big to be plugged by a check ball, and what appears to be the drum behind it. I’m assuming that what they mean by ‘capsule’ in the instructions is a steel pocket with a hole that gets pressed into that hole. I can’t find anything similar that fell out when I took things apart. If it’s supposed to be there, I’m not sure that it was, and even if not, the car had a very harsh reverse engagement (felt like worn u-joints inside, even though the driveline is tight). Any ideas here?
Thanks!

That checkball sounds like the one that goes under the seperater plate (v/b side) where the tv cable comes into the case you'll see a 'peninsula' where there's a large exposed hole. That checkball isn't required. It's just an 'emergency' item if the tv cable breaks it sends it to max pressure to save the trans. If you leave it out and it breaks you'll have soft stacked shifts which will quickly destroy the trans. I usually leave them out... as long as you know this and not to drive it, you could too if you wish.
Thanks, any help out there on the reverse check ball?

The checkball that installs in the orfice near low/reverse apply piston (in the case) can be left out. All others installed as per "instructions".
You know, I’m so used to dealing with companies and people that don’t have a clue that I didn’t think to do the obvious, call their tech support #.
Turns out that I was a bit confused with the check ***** because I’ve got somewhat a rare combination of valve body and auxiliary valve body, which makes it necessary to install one extra check ball.
WRT the big check ball, it is the tv failsafe, but the transgo doesn’t use it because you install a bar inside the TV spring which does roughly the same anyway
WRT the reverse check ball, the tech guy (didn’t catch his name, but he said that 10 years ago, they developed the shift kit using his truck), exactly described what I was seeing, and although it looks like I should be using the check ball according to the instructions, there is no way to install one there in my tranny, so not to worry about it.
Cool, I’ll finish it tonight. So far I’ve got more time in getting the pan off (trying not to take too much of a ATF shower, and fighting the crossmember then actually installing the shift kit.
Thanks...
