ok here is the story i just changed my front pump on my tranny and got it all back together. and when i started it up i went through all the gears and i had nothing in o/d it was like neutral. so i put it in drive and drove down the road to see how it acted and i dont think it shifted to second it went from first to third. third acts fine so i tryed shifting into overdrive at 50-55 and if i let off on the gas it shifted but the least little gas i gave it it acted like in neutral. but if i put it in drive it runs fine. befor i changed the pump there was nothing wrong with this tranny, any ideas what is wrong. its a 83 z28 witha 400 sbc and a 89 700r4

Did you use a new pump gasket? Did you make sure all the holes were lined up properly on the gasket? How about the thrust washer on the back of the pump, did that get put back correctly?
