Shifter and switch combo problem
Looking for some help here with a Z that's been sitting for over a year. Switch was removed from car when car was parked and shifter was placed in nuetral. Installed new switch today and switch will turn back one notch and back into lock but not forward. Shifter will only move from nuetral to 4th and back, nothing else. In the mean time, the white stick that holds the button up on the shifter **** is pressed down and will not raise. I've included a few pics of the shifter combination and I did just unplug the wiring harness from the shifter before the pics were shot.

Re: Shifter and switch combo problem
This doesn't seem to be a popular topic this 4th of July week. Probably a thread on here about it, I just can't seem to find it. The cable seems to be tight, haven't looked underneath the car yet. Is there a switch on the brake pedal that prevents/allows shifting? No battery in the car and the pedal is to the floor while the brakes are locked. Anybody recommend bleeding the brake lines and installing a battery to see if there's any resolution or is that not necessary to fix the shifting. I know I'll have to do it sooner or later.
