You have a few options:

Richmond R.O.D Six Speed: About $3000 and can handle up to 450 ft.-lbs.

3.27 2.13 1.57 1.23 1.00 .76 is the cheapest option

BW T-56 From a 4th Gen Z-28 or Firebird Formula/Trans-am: Fairly strong but people have been having clutch problems with this

BW T-56 from a viper: Very strong, hard to find

All of them require some trickery to install i.e. Special Bellhousing, Moving the shifter back/forward

I just did the swap to a T56. It was not too bad at all, and boy what a difference it makes. It sure is a lot of fun too. Just find the T56, and get the complete thing from the donor car, trans, clutch, all sensor plugs. You will also need a crossmember. And get a new master cylinder from Dal. that is about it.

The stock t-56 swap is almost brainless. If you get the transmission with the slave cylinder and shift and you buy an aftermarket crossmember, its an afternoon job. I love mine. I run about 300-325 Hp and it feels great. I installed 3.73's also, but wish I had used 4.10's.

Get any 93-97 T56, can't use the one from an LS1. Get the tranny, clutch, shifter, lower boot and the bolts. Look the clutch over good and re use it if it is ok. You will need a console cover (bought mine used for 30 bucks), and a cross member. I would recommend getting a new master/slave cylinder. Cost $84 from Dal.

Woops, sorry, did not see that you had a 5 speed. I needed a manual cover going from an automatic.

If you have a one piece rear main motor, get everything from the flywheel back, including the front drive shaft yoke. The T-5 front yoke will fit, but the T-56 yoke is longer and prefered. Also, get the slave cylinder and line from the donor car. The T-5 and the T-56 slave cylinders are different, but bolt up the same. I used the stock T-56 shifter and its clears the T-5 console in every gear. Looks like it belongs there. Look for 94-97 T-56's. The 93 had a different first gear, slightly deeper, but had a lower torque rating.
