Just picked up my car from the tranny shop...
as referenced here:

They said something about the pump bushing and locktight and something about it coming/working loose. Anyways the replaced the pump and the car runs. How much BS are they shoveling me? I can tell BS in most other areas but I am too ignorant when it comes to transmissions.
Is it strange that the first time my tranny broke the pump vanes broke (w/ my 305 TPI), the second time I fried my 3-4 clutches and then this time the pump bushing got messed up? From those with building experience what does this tell you about the shop? I get a feeling that they are the type of shop that just replace what is immediately broken and doesn't bother with all the nickel and dime (or $15) parts that should be replaced as part of a true rebuild. What are your thoughts?

I think you answered your own question. By the way, how much has this cost you so far?

The initial total for the rebuilt transmission and rebuilt converter was $1200. All the problems I have had have not cost me a dime because it was still under warranty. Being in socal that is the middle of the road price. I've seen prices at $1500 to el cheapo's at $800. I don't know of any reputable shops in my area. This place I had gone to before and have not had any problems. It is hard to find a good tranny shop hat knows how to build them right, charges a competitive price, and can take care of their customer. I guess this shop at least got 2 out of three.
