Trans Stop Leak: Should and can I use it????

I want to sell this car. The leak isn't that much, but its leaking from the rear of the transmission and the front seal. Like I said though, very little. It seems to do it more when the car is on ramps. I do not have the money to fix it and I want to sell it and let some1 with money fix these things. Its not big so maybe it won't start going crazy right away for the next owner, I suppose u guys know how I feel. Thanks!!

Just give it a try!
It will cure the leak(s) for some time!

If you do, get the stuff made by Lucas. It's supposed to be pretty good.

The front seal is a silicon type trans leak does nothing for this. New seals & possible bushings are the only way. Do not put in any type of trans stop leak it will destoy the inner seals of the transmission. This stuff acts like carberator cleaner, if you put something that is made of rubber in it, it just keeps growing. Finally in about 2-3 weeks the transmission quits altogether. It can help in special cases with different type of transmissions but I would not try it here, it will come back to haunt you.

I would drive it for a few days and then change the fluid and filter. I have seen seals that had some kind of stop-leak used on them and they were swollen and rubbery.
Not sharp on the edge of the lip like they
should have been. I don't have a clue what brand of sealer was used, however.

Why couldn't some1 tell me this before!! I've always been against this type of stuff, but I want to sell it and if it would stop the leak from the rear of the trans, it would help. The front seal leak is slow but the rear is faster.

Ptu in a new seal & bushing in both the front & back if you want to do this right. The stop leak is not going to work it will most likely destroy the transmission. If there was something that worked, I think I would have seen it by now. But it still is possible that there might be something out there that will work.

I can't pay for it right now, and I've never messed around with a trans before besides adjusting the TV Cable!! It actually made it feel better.

Well, if you're selling it, why bother? Replacing the rear seal isn't rocket science; but to do the front seal, you'd need to drop the trans down and out.

Lets see, why bother?? To Get More $$!! Do u have to take out the trans to replace the rear seal?? Its leaking again. If some1 could explain it good enough I'd probably be able to do it.

You shouldn't decieve someone when selling anything...

That kinda patch and hide stuff gets me miffed if I buy something. I'd rather have the person tell me what's wrong with the car, than to try to hide the problems and they crop back up 1 week later.

The transmission does not have to come out to replace the rear seal & bushing. The Drive shaft, torque arm, and tail housing are all that need to removed.

I'd rather not sell it like that also, but I need the $$. If some1 could give detailed precise instructions I will do it myself and won't have to keep it from the buyer. The front seal is barely leaking, maybe a drop every few days, maybe even better than that, but this rear seal is going crazy. Its getting to the point to where I'm going to have to change it, but if some1 experienced could explain I would really appreciate it. I haven't messed with transmissions yet besides adjusting TV Cables, but I have the tools to do this stuff and can follow good instructions.

Should I change the fluid and filter too, its still got that stop leak in there?? I've had enough of this.
