Average cost for a torque convertor for 700-R4
Sup? i need a new torque convertor for my 89 700-R4 and was wondering what the average cost of one is? i was looking for a 2200 stall range... summit sells one for $270 but its at the stock stall speed... anything higher is close to $400 while a convertor for a TH350 is around $100-$150...
anyone know of any places that sell t/q at a decent price...

there is a company that is called "hughes" i believe that makes torque convertors for the 700r4. my friend has one of them it cost about $500 i think but it is a 3000 stall. they are suppose to be a good company. check with a local trans shop that you trust they can probably get you the one you need for cheaper.

Try doing a search on transmission specialties
They are the cheapest I could find. Less than $200 for varying stall speeds. Their race and 9" converters are pricy though...

I don't know where you're looking, but the most EXPENSIVE 2200 RPM one I found was like $250...expect to pay like 200 bucks if you're a good shopper. :P

I got my 12" Midwest 2500 lockup stall for $200. http://www.raceconverters.com/ I like it - but you do have to realize that it will behave differently than a stock converter. You have to give it a little more throttle input for it to move from a stop because the converter is less efficient. It is fun how it zips right up into the higher rpms though. If I could just get my trans guy to get the trans to shift right I'd be a happy camper
. . . but that's another post. If you call Midwest and talk to Fred or Dennis (the owner) tell him Chris from the Nova Listserve sent you (to get the discounted price).

Not that I need a 2200, I really need 3000rpm but go ahead, find any 9 1/2" lockup for under $500.
12" TC's stink.
