700R4 post rebuild trauma

Maybe someone here can give me some insight
Fresh B&M super trans pak in my 83.
No neutral, Reverse locks as soon as you press the throttle, and hunts for OD.

I do not like spending big $$ for nothing
Perhaps someone could help.
Thanx

I'm not really clear on what is happening but perhaps you have a checkball out of place or the gaskets on the wrong side of the plate?

The B&M super trans pack is the complete rebuild kit right? If so one place to look may be the forward clutch, sounds like it's too tight or sticking. I know it's a lot of work but it would be best to tear it back down for a complete inspection. Hunting for fourth may be another problem.

I am going to try the valve body first and check all of the valves for proper movement, checkballs in proper placement. at least I can do this while it is still installed.

My first trial run, reverse seemed to work just fine as did 1st and 2nd gear.
2 to 3 shift went in to 3rd but slipped out and nothing.

Trial 2, reverse fine. as was 1 and 2, but completely lost 3 and 4

Trial 3, reverse binding, no neutral 3 and 4
(neutral acts like 1st)

Trial 4, warmed the tranny up good (idling in gear) have 1st 2nd 3rd but no OD. Reverse still binding and no neutral.

With all the different acts per trial, I figured it was the petroleum jelly I had used for the checkballs.
According to the B&M kit, there are two different diagrams for the *****. I had also drilled the hole in the valve body that was called for, as well as choosing heavy duty layout. I could have possibly messed this up.

I have never rebuilt any automatic before this. All tolerances check out
