I have read posts about picking the right TC, but it's still confusing sometimes. I wanted an expert's opinion. I might try and buy a TC soon. Could anyone recommend one that is around $300, and the stall speed I would need. My engine makes max torque at 3200 rpms. I'll also need some type of lockup switch. Should I get a manual switch or have it wired into the tranny for automatically locking?

I believe the rule of thumb for drag racing is to stall 500rpm below peak torque, but on a steet car (especially a light one) if I were you I'd stay in the 2,000 to 2,200 range.

 

2200 rpm Vette convertor lowest I would go with.
