Swapped cable driven unit with electronic unit no signal??

Swapped cable driven unit with electronic unit no signal??
I purchased a trans. it came with a cable driven speedo unit. My stock trans is electronic(sensor plugs into it). SO I swapped the two units along with the gears. Plugged the sensor back in. No readings on guages? Is there more to the swap than what I did?
