T56 clutch not disengaging, pulled apart and found this...

Apparently the clutch has never even PARTIALLY disengaged... look how perfect that pattern from the friction material is on the pressure plate. There's an identical pattern on the flywheel that matches the OTHER side of the clutch disc. The stupid thing might as well have been welded together.

I've SEEN the clutch fork pulling on the throwout bearing with my own eyes, so i have NO idea what is wrong. Anyone have any ideas?

I'm only guessing but could you have put the disc in backwards?

The latest and greatest I read recently was that STAR clutches really worked great for LT-1 T-56 stuff. http://www.specpwr.com/

It was in a 'camaro performers' magazine or sumthing like that... maybe a super chevy or chevy HP... can't remmeber... I'm old.

The other crap I read was that for the LS-1 T-56's, that there is a restrictor in the hose to the slave cylinder that needs to be enlarged. I need to drink more coffee to remember where I found that.

I dunno, I'm still using the stock LT-1 clutch that was in great shape that I got with the T-56... figured I'd get the bugs out and burn that up first.

Clutches I don't like: clutchnet.com fiber/kevlar/carbon. - too harsh - likes to break T-5's.
Clutches I like so far: Centerforce 2 - like 5 years in my Shelby Z and still works great.

Sure is. LT4 PP, Mcleod disc, Stock flywheel. I hope yours works better than mine.

And no, the disc wasn't in backwards. The other side of the disc is clearly labeled "flywheel side".

I'm trying to get ahold of a "used", known good T56 STOCK clutch and see if that works. If it does, I'll compare it to the one of I got.
