Question for you T-5 GURU's, about MECH speedo conversion on a 91 WC T-5

Hello guys, I'm installing a 91 W.C.T-5 in a friends 86 Monte SS, and I want to maintain the MECHANICAL SPEEDO feature of the car. I looked at the tranny, and it looks like the VSS sensor could just be removed and then just install an earlier T-5 mechanical speedo assembly. Am I right in this assumption? Thanks and please feel free to correct me if my assumptions are wrong .

Engine: 305 ci tbi, 305 ci tpi, 350 ci tpi
Transmission: WC-T5, WC-T5, 700R4
Axle/Gears: 3.45, 3.27, 3.27
Correct. Just make sure the same drive gears were used for both. Visible once you have the mechanical speedo gear out. It should be the same color. Otherwise you'll need to swap it out.
