im hopefully goin to get a used posi unit out of a 10 bolt rear from a firebird i believe not sure. but the guy thats saling it is sellin it on this site and he said it has less that 100,000 miles on it but taken good care of and well maintained. also he said it worked good when he took it out. now does anyone think i will have a problem puttin it into my 10bolt rear in my 82 z28, and do u guys think its a good deal for it goin for $50 i believe. so any comments are helpful thanx

 

you cant just take one carrier out and put it back in another, it has to be professionally setup, if not say by-bye gears. easyest thing to do is swap completle axles.

 

What year is it from? Early carriers require 26 spline axles,later carries 28 spline.

Thats not true i put a zexel torsion posi in a 3:73 rear i got. All i did was take out the carrier, press new bearings on and set it up to the same specs that the old carrier was. It took a few hours (checking everything twice) I have been driving it for ~5000 miles and i have had no problems. Its when you mess with the pinion that i would recomend a shop.

also aboutthe posi its a 2 carrier im remembeering and also it came out of a 89 formula, they guy told me it has the 26 spline axels so it should bolt right up to my axels.
