I shredded my stock 3.73 posi last summer and need to replace it with something stronger. My ideal setup is a 12 bolt or a 9 inch but i can't justify the cost.

My next best choice is the Auburn unit, and i want a 4.10 ratio, anyone have experience with this?

For about 1/2 the cost of a 9 inch or 12 bolt, you can run a 9 bolt with 4.10 gears. Mine holds upto my big block and 1.72-1.75 launches with slicks.

Miles

------------------
88 427 Big Block Camaro
(Best 1/4) 12.18 @ 113mph 1.75 60ft
(Best 1/8) 7.76 @ 94mph 1.72 60ft

Currently installing 3.73's into my 9 bolt (YES, it is a 9 bolt & YES they are 3.73's, not 3.70. I currently have 4.10 gear sets and new series 3 posi carriers for sale for 9 bolts )

Yes they did. Also I wouldn't get a Auburn posi unit because from experience they flat out suck!

1qwikz...what posi unit do you recommend?

Ideally, i want a 9 inch or a twelve bolt but I'm a college student and have very limited funds. That makes both of these options out of the question.

I hear ya on the 9" or the 12 bolt! Well i was lucky and scored a Dana 44 pretty cheap. I would recommend the Power Trax Locker.

If you're still using you're stock rearend, get Zexel "take out unit" from SLP'$99 + shipping or the Powertrax/No slip from Summit. Zexel requires 28 spline axles.
