With 2.77's, I would not even try for 2nd gaer rubber. Just go with the best kit (no matter what gears are in the rear) the Trans-Go Performance Shift kit & related parts, you will not go wrong doing this. This kit still will give firm shifts, if everything in the trans is still in good condition.

I agree with Pro on this. The time measured in revolutions of the driveshaft is allot longer than, lets say a 3.73, which would be very easy to achieve the 'tire chirp' you are after. Just about the only way is with a Bang type kit set on kill, such as the B&M Non-shift-kit, and a non-Posi with narrow tires. IF you get what you are after, start setting money aside every week in your rebuild-my-tranny fund as parts can be expected to break.

I have the B&M trans pak , and it is set on kill. I can bark them with 3.42's in the rear with a posi and 255/60 bfg radial ta's. It hits hard and i am waiting for something to break, again. I already shattered the spider gears in my last rearend.

With 3.42's it is easier to do. Even more so with 3.73's.

I have the Transpak and it shifts pretty firm even under light throttle. It has something in there that knows where you have the shifter. If I have it in "OD", then it's a firm shift, but not harsh. But if I have it in "Drive", it about jerks my head into the seat, and that's under light throttle. When I nail the throttle it just skwalls the heck outta that peg leg rear end going from 1st-2nd.

I like it. I ain't worried about what it does to the spider gears 'cause I'm gonna get one of the Power Trax lockers eventually anyway.

BTW, I have the 2.73 gears. It was only $65 for the kit and it doesn't bother me if it breaks something. Just gives me an excuse to R&R. But I wouldn't recommend it for someone who's looking to spend a small amount of mula because yer gonna have to replace something eventually.

my L98 with 2.77s will spin the tires during the 1-2 shift. its a dying transmission with a cheap self installed B&M shift kit. you can hear the tires chirp on the 1-2 shift on dry pavement at 3/4 throttle, but at WOT the engine and exaust is too loud to hear it.

I can chirp them on 1-2, and on 2-3, I have the 2.73 rear end.

I have a bw with 2.77's in my 89 formula 350 and I can break em loose pretty good and even get my car to pull a little sideways in second. My motor is bored .40 over with crane cam, hooker headers, hypertech chip, afpr, k&n, and ported plenum.

Mine will break loose going into second and chirp 'em going into third with a 3-speed Turbo-350 and 2.73's. Rest of mods are in the sig. It's really fun it holds the 1-2 shift at 4500-5000 for like three seconds before it shifts and I get sideways going 50. Okay maybe a little scarier than fun. But definatly cool when you leave school!
