propably stupid question about shift

Hi,
I live in Europe and here almost everyone drives manulas. So I have very little info about automatics. will I burn up my 700r4 or not if I put shifter in first gear position at stop light and then shift in second at WOT and ~5500 rpm ad then the same manner in drive position?
My intention is to have automatic shifts for cruising and manual for draging...

Re: propably stupid question about shift

you're not gonna hurt anything, but you'd be wise to buy a governor recalibration kit, then let it shift itself at 5500. Also buy a shift kit if you want full manual control when the shifter isn't in the OD position, like for canyon carving.
