What brand of convertor does everyone use?
What brand of convertor does everyone use?
Looking to buy one but don't know which for the street. I am building a 355 with trick flow heads and nitrous cam 2500to 6500, and a p1sc procharger. The transmission is a 350 and have 3.73 gears out back.
I was thinking TCI.
I don't want to spend alot on the convertor , already done that on my other camaro.

transfixleo,
Have you gone to that site? I was curious if what they say they do to the converters was good.
They say;
Furnaced Brazed Fins
Needle Bearings
Fully Balanced and Tested
Kevlar Linings
Hardened Pump Hub
Increase of up to 2800 Stall Speed
Are these good things? What else can be done done to make TC worth ~$250-$350 for a TH700-R4? I don't know a lot about this area so you'll have to learn me some.
Just seems to me that it's like buying generic food. Doesn't taste quite the same at first, but you get used to it eventually.
HEHE!!!!!
Thanks,
AJ
BTW, they got great Mexican dinner music on their site!!!!!

I have a COAN 3500 stall with lock up 585 dollars, but you tell them what your setup is and they will make one for you or tell you what they suggest, I recoment them but I dunno if you would want to spend that kind of money.
hope that helps

If you are looking for a high quality torque converter, check out the Continental 10" on my website www.pro-built.net The one you want is the one with the anti-ballooning plates, and a 2,300-2,500 stall max. With the Pro-Charger you want to keep the stall down for a better MPH at the end of the strip. What is the duration of the camshaft at .050 lift?, and what are the lobe centers?, and is it installed straight up or advanced?

I can't say that I know about them but it looks like the 'usual' claims for HD stuff. I have used and recommend Continental and have posted their number many times. Pro claims he can get a better price than dealing direct, if so that is a good trick so give him a try.
