28 spline axle?'s
hey guys, i have a 1986 drum posi rear with 3.23's i'm going to be putting a new posi carrier and 3.73's in but the new carrier is 28 spline axles, and my old 26 spline axles are toast due to worn bearings, what year rears can i get 28 spline axles out of? is there a difference in drum vs. disc? also do you know what speedo gears i need to change to? it's a T5, 10 bolt 7.5 drum setup

I believe it's '89 and up that have the 28
spline axles. The disc rear ends are totaly
different BW 9 bolts. My '88 has 26 spline axles.

89 is a crossover year. most were still 26 spline. You want to find a 90-92.
You can also buy better aftermarket 28 spline axles from places like www.drivetraindirect.com for $125 each. The aftermarket ones fit drum or disk. I don't know about factory axles.
